Unconscious Mutterings

Yes, I changed my blog theme. I was thinking about keeping that summery one up all year long. It was easy to read, and pictures seemed to display well on it. But ... Now, that fall is well upon us, I wanted something with more earth tones ... and I was bored with studying and needed a creative outlet.

Today, I present you with another installment of Unconscious Mutterings. It's a low stress, basic word association meme. Feel free to play along if you like. I haven't done one of these in a while. Thought it might be fun, and it was ... for me.

She said ... and I thought ... ?

1. Grace
Being a "churchy" person, the first thing that I think of is the grace of God that he extends to the people of the world. It reminds me to extend grace to other people when they might be having a rough time. It makes me imagine a world where people extended grace to each other instead of just waiting for an opportunity to jump down someone else's throat. That's a world that I want to live in.

Since the only person that I can control is me (theoretically), I just have to remember to be that small stone that's thrown in the pond. Perhaps, the faint ripples I create will have no effect at all. Maybe, they'll be the difference between life and death for someone who's hanging on the edge or anything in between. And the funny part is that I'll never know. But God does.

2. Shower
All I can think of is taking one for this word. Or more precisely that I don't have to take one tomorrow morning, so I won't have to get up quite so early on Sunday morning. Ah, enjoying the simple pleasures because sometimes they're all you've got. ;)

3. Alice
In Wonderland?

4. PurpleLYRICS ...
Start wearing purple wearing purple
Start wearing purple for me now
All your sanity and wits they will all vanish
I promise, it's just a matter of time...

(I promise there are no bad words in this song. They're a few lines in Ukrainian.)

5. Apartment
Nope ... I really don't have anything for this one.

6. 3
This meme is brought to you by the number 3 and the letters X, Y, and Z.

7. Car
With all the rain we've had, you wouldn't think so, but my car could really do with a good wash. ;)

8. Pregnant
Hmmm ... don't have much for this one either. All I can say is that I'm not. I could make something up, but perhaps it's better that I didn't. lol

9. Counselor
Yup, I need one. I don't have a clue. LOL

10. Discretion
I have always wondered what the phrase, "Discretion is the better part of valor" really means. I mean, I know what I've always thought it meant, but that mostly came from context. And, I don't know that they were using it correctly.

This is interesting. This is what I found at the FreeDictionary.com under idioms:

Proverb: It is good to be brave, but it is also good to be careful.; If you are careful, you will not get into situations that require you to be brave. Discretion is the better part of valor.

Well, those folks that I was listening to ... I think that they (or I) missed some of the nuances of the phrase.

And that is the end of today's lesson. ;)

Your new template is lovely and I enjoyed reading your Unconscious Mutterings. You know what else I enjoyed? A special prayer. I see God at work in this.

I love the look of your new theme. It's very feminine. Word associations are fun.

Sunny Sunday #6 - Color Me Sunny

WOOT!!! Spike likey the new theme :) I love the purple song. LOL and yes it is funny how when it rains how dirty ones car gets. Nice mutterings my friend :) Happy Sunday to ya MWAH!!!!!

I really like the new look. I've had the same template since I started my blog three years ago. I'd like to change it, but I'm a little too nervous to mess around with it.

Quilly: It's always encouraging when you see results. ;)

Nessa: Thanks! :)

Spike: And Happy Sunday to you too! Mwah! :)

Travis: Hey, what you have works for you, and that's all that's important. (But I don't think it be hard for a guy like you who posts all those pictures and videos in your posts. I just use a template that gives me the code, and it tells me where to put it in the customization section.)

I like the proverb. There is a fine line between doing too much and too little in the area of risk and sometimes you do not know how much is enough until you know how much too much is because the fear of failure often is a bigger hold back than the failure itself. I like your blog very much and that did make me think.

Tom: That's so true. You don't know how much is too much until you're already there. Thanks for stopping by! :)

Love the new look, Cherie! It's good to change one's wardrobe with the seasons. :)

And I really liked your response to Grace. This world could certainly use more of it.

Well that is cheaper than going to a psychologist.

Just popped by to say 'Thankyou' for the kind birthday wishes you left for me. :)

WOW I love your layout - it's like opening a gift box! :)

The blog looks lovely.

I'm not pregnant, either. :)

Lisa: You said it! :)

Dr John: That it is.

Akelamalu: Hope that you had a wonderful day!

Stacy: So good to hear from you. I'll have to drop by your new place in cyberspace. (Must admit that I "drove past" last night but didn't have a chance to post yet. You have been busy!)
