Don't Delay

Last week when I was trying to psych myself up to go ahead with something. I looked to the internet for inspiration, and I found some good stuff.  One of them was this quote by Og Mandino. It seemed to have an answer for all my excuses for delay.

If taken to extreme, it could cause disastrous results due to a lack of prior planning.  On the other hand, those of us who may suffer from the paralysis of analysis would do well to take note.

 

I've become so inspired that I can hardly wait to figure out what I'm going to do next!

You Can Do It Today!

I find myself on the edge of a task that I'd really rather not do. It involves recruitment.  I'm afraid. I'm afraid of losing the hope that exists in my list of the people who could say yes. Yet, if I delay too long, it will be too late for anyone to be ready for the task. All week my subconscious has been sabotaging me, thinking up other priority tasks.

But, today is the day. At least today is the day that I will make my start. I have my names and contact information. I have my vision and job description, and yes, I've even prayed. No one may be home. Everyone may say no, but I'm ready.

As a last minute delaying tactic, I googled motivation inspiration for recruiting. I didn't find exactly what I was looking for, but I did find this great poem accredited to Edgar Guest. I found it so helpful that I thought I'd pass it on.

Tomorrow

He was going to be all that a mortal should be
      Tomorrow.
No one should be kinder or braver than he
      Tomorrow.
A friend who was troubled and weary he knew,
Who'd be glad of a lift and who needed it, too;
On him he would call and see what he could do
      Tomorrow.
Each morning he stacked up the letters he'd write
      Tomorrow.
And thought of the folks he would fill with delight
      Tomorrow.
It was too bad, indeed, he was busy today,
And hadn't a minute to stop on his way;
More time he would have to give others, he'd say
      Tomorrow.

The greatest of workers this man would have been

So now, I've managed to waste another 15 minutes, but there can be no more delay. Don't wait until tomorrow. I will do it TODAY!

(Edited to Add: My first call, and my most coveted prospect was a YES !  I had to leave messages at the others, but I only need a few people. Now, I'm down to two. SWEET !)
